Why this site exists

Government scheme information in India is scattered across hundreds of portals, written in dense administrative language, and surrounded by websites that charge for things the government provides free. People miss benefits they qualify for, or lose money to agents, simply because nobody explained the process clearly.

We write one careful guide per scheme, covering the parts that actually cause rejections: the exclusion rules, the exact documents, and the verification steps that hold applications up.

What we are not

Apna Yojana is not a government website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any government department or agency. We cannot register you for a scheme, approve an application, or speed one up. We never collect your documents and we never ask for a fee — applying on the official portals is free, and we link to them on every page.

How we work

Every figure we publish comes from a primary government source and is dated, so you know how current it is. Our full editorial policy sets out the sourcing, verification and corrections rules we follow, and each guide names the person who researched it.

What is covered today

7 central schemes and 11 state schemes across 10 states, each with its own guide. On top of those there are 13 step-by-step guides for the questions people actually search — instalment dates, application status, e-KYC, beneficiary lists and card downloads — plus 14 calculators and 3 side-by-side comparisons of choices such as PPF against Sukanya Samriddhi, or the old against the new tax regime. The first guide to a registration rather than a scheme covers Udyam registration for small businesses, and the EPS pension guide covers how a provident-fund pension is worked out and claimed.

Guides are published in English, and in Hindi (15 schemes), Marathi (3), Kannada (1) and Tamil (1). We add a language where readers search in their own script, and skip it where they mostly search in English, as we found for Bengali.

Where our facts come from

The scheme and guide pages together cite 171 sources on 45 government and regulator websites. The ones we lean on most are pib.gov.in (36), mpinfo.org (18), pmkisan.gov.in (9), dprcg.gov.in (9), mahasamvad.in (8), nha.gov.in (6), cm.odisha.gov.in (6), cmladlibahna.mp.gov.in (6). Each source is listed at the bottom of the page it supports, with the date we read it.

How a guide is built

A guide states the benefit, who qualifies, who is excluded, the documents, the application steps and how to check status, then the reasons applications are rejected and how to fix each one, and the questions readers ask most. Every number in a calculator’s worked example is computed by the same code the calculator runs, so the explanation and the tool cannot disagree.

We use AI tools to help draft guides and translate them; AI is never the source. A figure is published only after it has been checked against the official page or document named beside it. The editorial policy sets out how.

The build itself refuses to publish a scheme page that has no source on an official government domain, a page whose FAQ answers are not visible in the text, or a page whose title or description would be cut short in search results.

Who writes it

Every guide carries the name of its editor, Mirza Seraj Baig, next to the date its facts were last checked. When a guide has also been reviewed by a second named person, the page says so.

How we are funded

The site is free to read and supported by advertising. We carry no affiliate links today. Advertising has no influence on which schemes we cover or what we say about them — an eligibility rule is what the government says it is.
