How to apply for Mahtari Vandan Yojana
Prepare the bank account first
The account must be in the woman's own name, linked to Aadhaar and DBT-enabled. Most failed payments trace back to this step, so confirm it with your bank before applying.
Apply through the official portal
Applications are made on the Mahtari Vandan portal run by the Women and Child Development Department. Enter your Aadhaar and bank details exactly as they appear on the documents.
Check the final list
After verification, approved names appear in the final list (antim suchi) published on the portal.
Track application and payment status
The status page shows whether your application is approved and whether each month's payment went through.
How to check your status
Open the application and payment status page
Enter your application details to see approval and month-by-month payment status.
If a payment shows as failed
The portal publishes the reasons payments fail and the fix for each — see the rejection list below. Most are bank-side and can be corrected at your branch.
Register a complaint if needed
Use the complaint page on the portal for unresolved problems.
Why applications get rejected, and how to fix each one
Most rejections and stuck payments come down to a handful of record mismatches. Find yours below.
- Bank account not linked to Aadhaar
- Link the account to your Aadhaar number at your bank branch.
- DBT not enabled on the account
- Ask the bank to enable the Direct Benefit Transfer facility (NPCI mapping) on your account.
- Bank account inactive, dormant or closed
- Reactivate the account at the branch, or update the application with an active account in your own name.
- Name does not match between Aadhaar, the bank and the application
- Correct the record that is wrong so all three match, then update your application details.
- Joint account given
- The scheme pays only into an account held solely by the woman. Open or nominate a single-holder account and update the application.
- Duplicate application
- Only one application per woman is allowed. Withdraw the duplicate; the portal also provides a benefit-surrender (labh tyag) option for women who wish to give up the benefit.
- Family member is an income tax payer or a government employee
- These are exclusion conditions under the scheme. If the marking is wrong — for example a relative who is not part of your family unit — raise it through the complaint page with supporting proof.
- Incomplete documents
- Resubmit with Aadhaar and correct bank details. The portal lists exactly what is needed.
