Who is eligible

  • You must be at least 18 years old on the date of registration.
  • You must be engaged in one of the 18 listed trades, working on a self-employment basis.
  • You must not have taken a loan under similar central or state credit schemes — PMEGP, PM SVANidhi or Mudra — in the last 5 years.
  • Registration and benefits are limited to one member per family.

Who is not eligible

These exclusions are as important as the eligibility rules — an application that falls into any of the categories below will be rejected or the benefit later recovered.

  • People in government service, and members of their families.
  • Anyone who has taken a PMEGP, PM SVANidhi or Mudra loan in the previous 5 years.
  • More than one member of the same family — only one person per family may register.

  • Ration card, or the Aadhaar details of family members where a ration card is not held
  • Proof of the trade you practise, as asked for during verification

How to apply for PM Vishwakarma

  1. Visit a Common Service Centre (CSC)

    Registration is done through a CSC using biometric authentication, so you cannot self-register from home. The CSC operator submits the application on your behalf.

  2. Complete Aadhaar and mobile verification

    The operator verifies your identity using Aadhaar biometrics and the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.

  3. Fill the artisan registration form

    Give your personal details, your trade from the list of 18, family details and bank account information.

  4. Pass the three-stage verification

    Applications are verified in three stages: first by the Gram Panchayat or Urban Local Body, then the District Implementation Committee, then the Screening Committee.

  5. Collect your certificate and ID

    Once approved you receive a PM Vishwakarma digital certificate and ID card. These establish your recognition as a Vishwakarma and unlock the toolkit grant, training and credit benefits.

Which 18 trades are covered under PM Vishwakarma?

Carpenter, boat maker, armourer, blacksmith, hammer and tool kit maker, locksmith, sculptor or stone carver, stone breaker, goldsmith, potter, cobbler or footwear artisan, mason, basket/mat/broom maker and coir weaver, traditional doll and toy maker, barber, garland maker, washerman, tailor, and fishing net maker.

How much loan can I get under PM Vishwakarma?

Collateral-free loans are given in two tranches: ₹1 lakh first, repayable over 18 months, then ₹2 lakh, repayable over 30 months. The beneficiary pays 5% interest, with an interest subvention capped at 8%.

What is the PM Vishwakarma toolkit incentive?

Registered beneficiaries receive a grant of ₹15,000 towards buying a toolkit for their trade.

Is there a stipend during PM Vishwakarma training?

Yes. Trainees receive a stipend of ₹500 per day during skill training.

Can I apply for PM Vishwakarma online by myself?

No. Registration needs biometric authentication, so it is done through a Common Service Centre. You can read scheme details and track your application on pmvishwakarma.gov.in.

Are government employees eligible for PM Vishwakarma?

No. People in government service and members of their families are not eligible for the scheme.
