Who is eligible
- You must be a permanent resident of Odisha.
- You must be aged between 21 and 60 — a date of birth between 2 July 1964 and 1 July 2003.
- Married and unmarried women are both eligible.
- Your family should hold an NFSA or SFSS ration card. If it does not, you can still apply if family income is not more than ₹2.5 lakh a year.
- You need an Aadhaar-seeded, DBT-enabled bank account in your own name.
Who is not eligible
These exclusions are as important as the eligibility rules — an application that falls into any of the categories below will be rejected or the benefit later recovered.
- Women who pay income tax.
- Current or former Members of Parliament or of the Legislative Assembly.
- Regular or contractual employees of the central or state government, and those drawing a pension after retirement from government service.
- Women already receiving a pension or scholarship of ₹1,500 or more a month, or ₹18,000 or more a year, under any government scheme.
Documents required
- Aadhaar card
- NFSA or SFSS ration card — or income proof if the family has no such card
- Aadhaar-seeded, DBT-enabled bank account details in your own name
- Mobile number for OTP and updates
How to apply for Subhadra Yojana
Check the guideline and your eligibility
Read the eligibility and exclusion conditions in the official guideline before applying. Applications are free.
Apply online or offline
You can apply online through the Subhadra portal, or offline using the printed form at the local centres designated by the state. Fill in Aadhaar, ration card and bank details exactly as they appear on the documents.
Wait for verification and the published list
Applications are verified under the state's Standard Operating Procedure, and districts publish lists of eligible, ineligible and rejected beneficiaries. Check your district's notification.
Receive the instalments
Once eligible, ₹5,000 is credited around 8 March and ₹5,000 around Rakhi Purnima each year, into your Aadhaar-seeded DBT-enabled account.
Why applications get rejected, and how to fix each one
Most rejections and stuck payments come down to a handful of record mismatches. Find yours below.
- Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded or not DBT-enabled
- Ask your bank to seed Aadhaar to the account and enable it in the NPCI mapper for DBT. This is the most common reason a name appears on the eligible list but the money does not arrive.
- Age outside the window
- Only women born between 2 July 1964 and 1 July 2003 qualify. There is no fix for this; the guideline fixes the range.
- No NFSA or SFSS card and income above ₹2.5 lakh
- Families without a food security card qualify only if annual income is ₹2.5 lakh or less. If your family holds a card that was not linked, get the card details corrected on the application.
- Already receiving ₹1,500 or more a month from another scheme
- Pensions or scholarships of ₹1,500 or more a month (₹18,000 a year) make you ineligible. If the other benefit has stopped, provide proof and ask for re-verification.
- Marked ineligible: income tax, government service, or elected office
- These exclusions apply to the woman herself. If the marking is a mistake, raise it with your district administration, which publishes the eligible, ineligible and rejected lists.
